1 Thessalonians 5:17, "Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly];
Praying without ceasing is synonymous with breathing. It is a spontaneous activity that merges with our lifestyle and creates an attitude of God consciousness and surrender to him. When we hold our breaths for too long we deprive our bodies of oxygen. Eventually if we don't release our breath we will suffocate and die. In that regard, neglecting to pray depletes an attitude to be God consciousness and render us ignorant to total surrender. The next time, we hold our breath ask ourselves this question, "Have I prayed today?". When we develop an attitude of praying, it consumes our lives and allow us to exhibit the characteristics of his Holy Spirit. If prayer isn't priority like breathing is, you are holding your breath. Don't hold your breath!
Prayer: Lord help me to see the need for prayer. Help me develop a deep desire to communicate with you.
